San Leandro, CA — The San Leandro Unified School District (SLUSD) Board of Education welcomes two new trustees and celebrates the return of two experienced trustees for the next four-year term.

Zachary Borja (Area 1) and Cindy Rocha (Area 3) join the Board as newly seated members, bringing fresh perspectives and a commitment to SLUSD's vision of equity and excellence for all students. Returning trustees Peter Oshinski (At Large) and Diana Prola (Area 5) continue their dedicated service, bringing extensive experience to ensure stability as the district advances its strategic goals.

As SLUSD welcomes these leaders, the district expresses deep gratitude to outgoing trustees Evelyn González (Area 3) and Melissa Fegurgur (Area 1). González, who has served with distinction for 10 years, leaves a legacy of unwavering commitment to SLUSD students and families. Fegurgur’s contributions to the district and advocacy for student success will also be greatly missed.

The Board has also completed its annual reorganization, appointing Leo Sheridan as Board President, Jackie Perl as Vice President, and Peter Oshinski as Board Clerk.

“We are excited to welcome Cindy and Zachary to the Board of Education,” said Superintendent Dr. Michael McLaughlin. “We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to Evelyn and Melissa for their dedication and service to SLUSD. I am grateful to work alongside this dedicated group of leaders as we continue to build on the district's successes and drive forward the important work that supports our students, families, and community.”
