SAN LEANDRO, Calif – Aguilar will represent Region 7, which includes Contra Costa and Alameda Counties through 2023.
James Aguilar, school board trustee and board clerk for San Leandro Unified, was recently elected to a highly competitive seat on the California School Boards Association (CSBA) Board of Directors. Aguilar will represent Region 7, which includes Contra Costa and Alameda Counties.
As a CSBA Director, Aguilar will play a greatly expanded role in advocating for public school students, families, and educational staff in Region 7 through partnerships with state and federal agencies that make essential financial and policy decisions. Additionally, the CSBA Board of Directors sets key vision, mission and strategic decisions that ensure educational governance teams remain focused on effectively and equitably serving the over 6 million school-age children throughout the state of California.
Aguilar has served on the SLUSD school board since 2018 and is a graduate of the CSBA Masters in Governance program. “I’m humbled by the opportunity to represent my colleagues across the East Bay and throughout the state,” said Aguilar, “I’m bringing my experience as a former student board member, and as one of the youngest trustees in the association. I look forward to hitting the ground running.”
Aguilar plans to remain on the SLUSD board of trustees through the end of his term in 2022 and has already announced plans to run for reelection at that time. Read more about Trustee Aguilar on the district’s website at: https://www.slusd.us/board-of-education/trustee-areas/area-6-james-aguilar/
