With roots dating back to 1968, National Hispanic Heritage Month is from Sept 15 to October 15 and begins each year on the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. It is also celebrated during this period by Mexico, Chile, and Belize. See this link for wonderful resources to celebrate these rich histories during this special time.
The SLUSD school board adopted Resolution 22-38 to recognize National Hispanic Heritage Month. This resolution encourages schools throughout San Leandro Unified School District to celebrate with activities that honor the history and customs of the Hispanic/Latinx community.
