Subject: Honoring Ruby Bridges' Legacy of Courage and Resilience
Dear James Madison Community,

Today, we come together to honor the remarkable courage and determination that Ruby Bridges displayed at just six years old when she became the first Black child to attend an all-white school in the South. Ruby’s bravery, despite the intense racism she faced, stands as a powerful symbol of resilience and hope. She never missed a single day of school, embodying the strength to keep moving forward even in the face of adversity.

As we reflect on Ruby's legacy, may we find inspiration to foster an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered. Let us reaffirm our commitment to a school community built on equity, empathy, and inclusion.

With gratitude,

Paulette Smith
Principal, James Madison Elementary
