Principal Update: Early Dismissal Days This Thursday and Friday

This is principal McNeil.

This is a long update as there are many announcements and lots of information!

Thank you so much to all the students, families, and staff who came out to celebrate at our Black History Program. It was awesome to see everyone come together to celebrate and enjoy. The food was amazing and the program was so fantastic. Special thanks to Ms. Lau and her Second Graders, Ms. Bendu Griffin for her story and all the coordination, and the Diamono Coura West African Dance Company for an amazing and interactive performance! What a wonderful evening!

Early Dismissal Days This Week:
Thursday and Friday of this week, March 6th and 7th, are Early Release Days. These early days are to allow teachers to complete report cards.
TK/K, 11:40 Dismissal
1st-5th Grade, 1:50 Dismissal
Please mark your calendars (I am sorry for the late reminder!)
There will be no clubs/enrichment on Thursday and Friday this week due to Early Dismissal!

School Smarts:
School Smarts will be Friday, March 7th for School Smarts Families.
School Smarts will be at 8:15 in Room 11.

Family Science Night: March 11th, 6pm
We will have a great night of hands on science for students and families on Tuesday, March 11, at 6pm, in the Monroe MPR.
Every student who attends will get a free science item to take home! Don't miss this!

LCAP Meetings, Wednesday, March 12:
We will hold two LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) meetings on Wednesday, March 12th. These meetings serve as the official way to give input in our Single Plan for Student Achievement, which we are currently writing for the next school year. 
Meeting #1: 8:15am, MPR, March 12
Meeting #2: 6pm, MPR, March 12
You only need to attend one of these meetings! 

Latino Family Social/Planning Meeting: Thursday, March 13th, 8:15am, Monroe MPR:
We invite all Latino Families to come to a Morning Social. We will network and discuss future plans to celebrate Latino History and Culture, and current events that may be impacting our Latino Families. We hope to see everyone there (all welcome!) We will provide coffee, please bring a small treat to share if you would like.

No School Friday, March 14th:
No School on Friday March 14th for Teacher Professional Development.

We have lots of great activities during the school day over the next couple weeks as well! We have Bike Rodeo's for our upper grade students, to learn about bike riding and bike safety on Tuesday and Wednesday. We have the Grammy Nominated Alphabet Rockers coming to perform on Friday this week. And in two weeks, on March 17th (happy St. Patrick's Day!) our 5th Graders will be going off to Outdoor Education Camp, for their two night overnight field trip!

Mark your calendars...March 21st is our next ELAC meeting, at 8:15 in the MPR. ELAC is for our multi lingual learners.

We are excited to have lots of fabulous programming for our students and families. We also have State Assessments during the Spring. We are currently administering the ELPAC test to our multi-lingual Learners, and we will be administering our State ELA and Math Assessments next month in April.
