The 8th Grade promotion ceremony and end-of-year activities are important events for our Falcons at John Muir Middle School. As such, the promotion ceremony and end-of-year activities are designed to honor all students, celebrate the year and acknowledge the many accomplishments of our Falcons as they move on to high school.
- 8th Grade Promotion Party: An evening event to celebrate 8th Grade Promotion. Friday, May 30, 2025.
- 8th Grade Field Trip: A day of fun at Six Flags in Vallejo. Monday, June 2, 2025.
- 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: A program to honor our graduates for their success at John Muir Middle School as witnessed by family, friends and Falcon staff. Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
8th Grade Contract Requirements
- ACADEMICS
- Students can have NO MORE than two F’s in Quarter 3. Any student who receives more than 2 F’s on the Quarter 3 Report Card will not be allowed to attend the 8th grade field trip. Students will be classified as Academic Probation for the remainder of Quarter 3 and for Quarter 4. Students who are classified as academic probation must show improvement in their grades or risk losing the privilege of the 8th grade Promotion Party & Ceremony.
- Students can have NO MORE than two F’s in Quarter 4. Any student who receives more than 2 F’s on the Quarter 4 Report Card will not be allowed to attend the 8th grade Promotion Party & field trip. They will also not be allowed to attend the Promotion Ceremony excluding extenuating circumstances.
- In order to participate in the promotion ceremony, students who are classified as academic probation will have to attend a parent/student meeting regarding promotion opportunities.
- 8th Grade teachers will submit their final lists for students not meeting promotion criteria by May 27, 2025.
- ATTENDANCE AND MATERIALS:
- Maintain 90% attendance and no more than 10 period tardies in Quarter 4.
- Students must be marked Present for all classes on Friday, May 30th in order to participate in the Promotion Party that evening.
- Students must be marked Present for all classes on Tuesday, June 3rd & Wednesday, June 4th in order to participate in the Promotion Ceremony that afternoon.
- Students must return all library materials by Friday, May 30, 2025.
- Parents are required to attend one mandatory meeting that reviews the promotion criteria.
- Thursday January 9th, 7pm on Zoom
- Friday January 10th, 8:30am in person in JMMS Library
- Tuesday January 14th, 7pm on Zoom
- BEHAVIOR:
- Students must remain Responsible, Respectful and Reflective.
- Students must not receive more than five days of suspension between January 6, 2025 and June 4, 2025.
- Students that receive discipline referrals or suspensions between May 19th and June 4th can lose the privilege of participating in one or more of the end-of-year activities.
No uncleared detentions or community service after May 30, 2025.
