The technical and academic skills needed to attain and maintain high-skill, high-demand careers. In addition to technical training and career foundations, these courses also offer a wide range of additional educational benefits, including critical thinking development, technical literacy, public speaking skills, leadership development, and planning/organization skills.
Career Technical Education courses are taught by highly qualified CTE credentialed teachers. All SLHS incoming 9th graders will begin their college and career pathway by completing the semester-long College and Career Seminar course. After 9th grade, students who choose a CTE pathway will have the opportunity to participate in work-based learning opportunities, such as internships, job shadows, and industry tours that will support personalized real-world learning.
Many courses in CTE also provide early college credits that have been articulated with local community colleges. Students who complete a CTE pathway also can earn industry-recognized certifications.
