The San Leandro High School Academy for Business and Finance is a partnership between public education and the business community. The Academy is a three-year program that provides academic and technical training that prepares students for higher education and the workforce.
The Academy teachers meet daily to plan and to discuss the progress of students in order to provide maximum assistance and personal attention. The program’s partnership with local businesses, Eden Area ROP and Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) enriches the business curriculum by providing insight into the training necessary for success in business. The business classes are held in the Academy’s computer lab, where students are trained in the use of standard business applications as well as all areas of Finance and Economics. Guest speakers, field trips, mentors and employment opportunities help to make this a unique program. Students in their three years will also be able to fundraise, and gain retail experience working in our newly opened student-run enterprise/ student store, “Pier 15 @ Pirate’s Cove”

The San Leandro Academy for Multimedia (SLAM) is a three-year digital-media academy program at San Leandro High School. We provide a school within a school atmosphere at a large public California High School.
Students in SLAM take academic courses such as English and Social Studies inside the academy as well as media classes. The coursework in all classes is aligned so that many projects are cross-curricular, meaning students are putting English and Social Studies content into the media they create.

The Social Justice Academy provides 10th to 12th-grade students with a forum to become the catalysts of social, political, and environmental change. The mission of the Social Justice Academy is to empower students to make positive changes in their communities. We intend to improve San Leandro, and to develop civic-minded leaders and lifelong learners who can be drawn on as a valuable source of active citizenship to support growth in San Leandro.
In combination with English and History classes that will utilize service-learning strategies to connect project-based learning with standards-based instruction, a series of specially designed electives allow the students to form partnerships with over 15 local and national community organizations. Students conduct needs assessments, eventually planning and implementing events that create positive change in San Leandro. SJA emphasizes the need to examine our own and other economic, social and political systems, and to be a source of new social ideas, dictated by the students’ interest and needs, as well as by the demands of society.
Welcome to STREAM Academy, an innovative program tailored for 10th to 12th graders with a passion for Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. At STREAM, students engage in dynamic learning experiences that empower them to apply their knowledge and skills to tackle real-world challenges while fostering a sense of community.
Our STREAM classes are designed around hands-on, project-based learning, providing students with a unique opportunity to delve into practical applications of their academic pursuits. For instance, sophomores participating in the product design curriculum acquire skills in areas such as simple machines, 3D printing, and raspberry pi technology. Putting these skills to the test, they collaborate to construct an escape room for the incoming cohort of STREAM students, fostering teamwork and creativity.
Seniors at STREAM demonstrate their acquired knowledge by undertaking projects aimed at addressing pertinent issues within their community. This application of learning extends beyond the classroom, allowing students to make meaningful contributions to the world around them.
STREAM Academy was established by visionary educator, the late Eduardo Nava Chavez. He believed in the inherent creativity and problem-solving abilities of all students. At STREAM, we continue his legacy by empowering our young individuals to be the catalysts for positive change in their communities. Through our STREAM Mission, Vision, and Values, we aim to build a more connected and supportive community, paying homage to the enduring impact of Eduardo Nava Chavez. Join us at STREAM Academy, where knowledge meets action, and students become the NAVAgators of their future.
As STREAM is a new academy, we are still building our website. Stay tuned for updates. Until then, you can follow us on Instagram @slhs_STREAMacademy or email us at slhsstream-group@slusd.us
